We’re proud to announce the launch our first charity fishing match which will take place on Saturday 21st August 2021. The event will take place at one of the UK’s premier commercial fisheries Maver Dynamite Hayfield Lakes.
The winner will be awarded the Doncaster Business for the Community Angling Cup together with a cash prize and Dynamite Baits prize. There will also be cash prizes for second and third place along with section prizes on the day.
Following on from the successful Charity Cricket and Football events held by DB4C in the last few years. Most recently the Doncaster Business Community Cup was contested at the Keepmoat Stadium which raised funds of £7000 for local charities Active Fusion and Doncaster Mind.
For this inaugural event DB4C is looking to raise funds to support the Doncaster Samaritans who have worked so tirelessly during the pandemic to help and support Doncaster people in desperate need.
““We are delighted to have been chosen by DB4C as the beneficiary of the event. We saw a significant increase in the last year of people contacting our services in Doncaster. Overall, mental ill-health was the most common concern in contacts since COVID restrictions began, raised in 47% of contacts. Loneliness and isolation were a concern in 29% of emotional support contacts. We rely on donations to keep our services running 365 days a year 24 hours a day”. Spokesperson for Doncaster Samaritans.
“We are so pleased to be able to host this inaugural event, particularly for such a worthy local cause as Doncaster Samaritans. Competitors will be able to participate and enjoy one of the best fishing lakes in the Country and enjoy awesome fishing set in stunning scenery. We hope the event will become a regular feature in our calendar.” Proprietor of Hayfield Lakes, Noelie Goforth
“It’s great after the last 15 months to be back in business and to be able to launch our new event, the Angling Cup and again continue to help local people and organisations. We expect interest in the event to be strong and the venue is the perfect setting for this inaugural event. We are grateful to the businesses that have already come forward already to support us. We are delighted to announce local construction company Room One Construction Ltd as our event sponsor.”
“We are aware of the toll that the pandemic has had on mental health and the outstanding work and dedication shown by the Doncaster Samaritans to support those in need. Nationally in 2020 the Samaritans spent over 1 million hours in responding to calls for help. We are proud to be able to support them.”
DB4C Chair, Tim Shaw
